BIOGRAPHY
Cara Reichel is an NYC-based theatrical director, writer, and educator. She is the Producing Artistic Director of Prospect Musicals, which she co-founded in 1998, and is a leader in the field of new musical theater development.
With collaborator Peter Mills, she has co-created over a dozen original musicals, including The Hello Girls, The Underclassman (aka The Pursuit of Persephone), Golden Boy of the Blue Ridge, Honor, The Flood, Illyria, and The Taxi Cabaret. Works-in-process include The Troupe, Declaration, and The Mystery of the Somerton Man.
As a theater educator, Cara has taught for Princeton University's Global Seminar Program (2021-2026) in Italy, and at Princeton's Lewis Center for the Arts Atelier Program (2017, 2024). With Peter Mills she founded a summer arts program in the community of Gesualdo, in Southern Italy, called Nuova Musica.
Cara was educated at Princeton and in the M.F.A. Program for Directing at Brooklyn College, where she was named 2006 Alumna of the Year. She is a member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, and a Trustee of the Princeton Triangle Club.
